In our continued effort to exhibit exceptional works of quality, Loch Gallery is proud to present the following exhibition of works by Shannon Craig Morphew. The exhibition opens on Saturday, May 14th and will run until May 31st.
Please note that all works are subject to pre-sale as the paintings have now arrived in the gallery and are ready for viewing. If you have an interest in any of the paintings listed in the exhibition, please let us know at your earliest convenience.
In this first solo exhibition with the Loch Gallery, Shannon Morphew
exhibits the powerful linear and highly energetic paintings for which
she has become known.
Shannon was born into a creative family in St. John's, Nfld in 1977.
Upon completion of studies at Sheridan College and the Ontario College of Art in 2001, she decided to pursue her commitment to painting full time. Solo exhibitions in both Toronto and Ottawa since 2002 have led to a strong following of her work.
In this new series, the artist expands her narrative beyond the
country fields, dramatic skies and fast moving streams to interpret
the still-life and portrait format. Influenced by Japanese woodblock
prints, the artist's style of active brushwork, minimal colour and
dream-like compositions expresses a very personal creative vision.
