Size 91.4 x 91.4 cm

One of the most famous movie icons is without doubt the bold and daring King Kong. This giant gorilla first appeared in film in 1933 and has since inspired countless remakes, sequels, cartoons, novels and video games.

Burton’s take on this icon departs from the fearful monster or tragic anti-hero and presents a lighter more familiar version, As a child, Burton often recalls watching early cartoons on TV of playful and mischievous aptly titled “Monkey Business.”

monkeys and sought to bring some of that jovial spirit to this new creation. Monkey Business presents to us a gorilla that is playful and fun engaged in climbing the Empire State Building. The glimmer in his eyes and the smile on his lips are reminiscent of a naughty child, thus evoking a smile to all who view this new creation!

Lady Liberty
Screenprint with diamond dust Year 2015
Edition size 80
Size 94.3 x 74 cm

A gift to the United States in 1886 from the people of France, The Statue of liberty was inspired by Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom who today keeps a watchful eye over New York City.

Burton's interpretation of this subject holds special significance for him as it exemplifies the spirit that is America today and is a true global icon that is synonymous with New York and the United States. This piece also reflects the iconic ideals of truth, justice and the American way and with Lady Liberty bursting from the paper, perfectly symbolizes both Burton’s work and POP culture.

The Butterfly Effect Screenprint with diamond dust Year 2015
Edition size 80
Size 74x74cm

The Butterfly Effect refers to the theory in which a small change in the environment can result in a large scale event in a later state or location. The butterfly in this piece appears to be imbued by the magical effect of the black diamond dust as it literally escapes the confines of its frame. The monarch butterfly is truly an iconic butterfly in the Americas that seasonally travels from Mexico all the way to Canada; one can only wonder what effect the flutter of its wings may bring to us in the future.

This piece can also easily be referenced to Burton’s re-emergence from his recent battle with cancer. Just as the butterfly undertakes a huge transformation, so Burton’s artwork is now instilled with even more life and vibrancy.

Given the recent demand for Morris’ printwork and the subsequent ever dwindling available supply, it is an opportune time to launch these amazing prints.

The global launch of the 3 new editions will take place at The Affordable Art Fair in Hong Kong (Booth C02) starting with the preview night on Thursday, 21st May and ending on Sunday 24th.
