To coincide with the release of David Bowie’s new box set “Who can I be now?", two special events
organised by Ransom Art Gallery and Terry O’Neill:
1. An exceptional photography exhibition that opens on Wednesday 21 September and combines an
exclusive collection of classics together with a selection of unseen prints of David Bowie by Terry
O’Neill
2. The launch and the signing of the new Limited edition book “Bowie by O’Neill” on Wednesday
5 October.
1.ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPY EXHIBITION
This retrospective showcases a collection of the best photographs taken by Terry O’Neill during his
30-year partnership with David Bowie. Rarely seen shoots of the last performance of David Bowie
as Ziggy Stardust in 1973 will be exhibited in the gallery from 21 September to the 22 October,
together with other memorable and now iconic photos of the singer’s career captured by O’Neill.
From the photo session for the album 'Diamond Dogs', to the set of the film 'The man who fell to earth',
from the first encounter of Bowie with Elizabeth Taylor, to the magazines’ cover of Bowie with his
former wife Angie.
2. ABOUT THE LIMITED EDITION BOOK ‘BOWIE BY O’NEILL’
“Bowie by O’Neill” is a 500 copy limited edition book that includes never-before and rarely seen
photos from the last Ziggy Stardust performance, the studio recording session for Young Americans,
stage performances from Station to Station, David Bowie and William Burroughs sessions, set
photography from ‘The man who fell to earth’ and the now iconic photo session for Diamond Dogs.
By incorporating multiple inserts, design crops and colourisation, “Bowie by O’Neill” becomes
more than just a book of photography – but a book that stands alone as a piece of art.
Inside an orange-silk presentation box, a specially commissioned bas-relief portrait of Bowie,
inspired by O’Neill’s work, rests on top of this glorious 288–page deluxe book. Printed by the
prestigious Italian fine art publisher Errestampa, “Bowie by O’Neill” contains more than 180 photos.
Using the images as inspiration, several collaborations with unique talents were commissioned
exclusively for this book to reimagine and recolour some of Terry’s classic images.
The first edition of 500 copies comes with a signed certificate of authenticity and two limited edition
fine art prints.
Terry O’Neill will be available for interviews on request.
