For nearly three decades, Brett Shaheen has been dealing in paintings, sculpture and drawings by established and emerging contemporary artists as owner of SHAHEEN Modern and Contemporary Art. SHAHEEN’s primary focus is on the private resale of works by artists who have risen to prominence since the mid-1980's, including John Currin, Raymond Pettibon, Lari Pittman, Dana Schutz, Rudolf Stingel, Yoshitomo Nara, R.H. Quaytman and Sam Gilliam, among many others. Additionally, SHAHEEN specializes in blue chip contemporary prints and multiples by the likes of Roy Lichtenstein, Chuck Close, Andy Warhol, Frank Stella, David Hockney, Jean Dubuffet, and Raymond Pettibon.
SHAHEEN has established and maintained an eclectic program of solo and group exhibitions through direct collaborations with artists and curated installations of gallery inventory. The gallery’s exhibitions have ranged from a museum-caliber retrospective of prints by Roy Lichtenstein, to solo exhibitions of new work by prominent early and mid-career artists Dana Schutz, Tara Donovan, Michelle Grabner, Daniel Hesidence and Keith Mayerson among others. In addition, SHAHEEN maintains ongoing working relationships with gallery artists, including TR Ericsson, Mark Fox, Corrie Slawson, Craig Kucia, Neil Macdonald, Klaus Mosettig and Charlie Kanwischer.
Leveraging an academic background in art history, 30 years of artworld experience, and a broad international network of relationships with other galleries, auction houses and museums, Brett Shaheen advises and educates collectors, working with them over time to build collections of lasting personal and historical value.
