The work of Ed Baynard is at once contemporary and classical. Apart from the Western in¬clination to create a false sense of dimensional space, Baynard retains the simplicity of form inspired by a love of Japanese Woodblock prints. Born in Washington, D.C. in 1940, and currently living and working in New York City, Ed Baynard has become legendary through his elegant watercolors and unique printing techniques. His artistic genius is derived from both Eastern and Modern Art, bringing forth a pallet of delicately intense colors. His works reflect the same poetry of his earlier paintings, retaining his stylized compositions and their Oriental calm, along with a strong sense of rhythm and movement. In some he infuses a bold richness, with others he employs tactful lines with just the perfect choice of soft coloration.
A true master of refinement and beauty, Ed Baynard has been painting for over three decades, setting new standards for future generations of artists.
