1932: Born in Medellin, Colombia
1950: Graduated from Medellin University
1952: Studied, San Fernando Academy and the Prado Museum, Madrid, Spain
1953 - 1955: Studied fresco techniques and art history, Florence, Italy
1955: Returned to Colombia
1960: Took up residence in New York
Won Guggenheim National Prize for Colombia
1967: Visited Italy and Germany; studied work of Dürer in Munich and Nuremberg, Germany
1973: Moved to Paris, France
