Elliot Green’s abstracted landscape paintings feature panoramic, far-reaching vistas. Mountains, reservoirs, and open skies are rendered impressionistically to create a dynamic sense of motion. He makes his works through a repeated process of gestural painting and erasing. Bursts of color composed with thick brushstrokes complement more delicate lines and subtle hues. The pulsing energy of Green’s canvases has drawn comparisons to Gerhard RIchter's and Jack Whitten's meared abstractions, as well as Vicent van Gogh's expressive, motion-filled paintings. Green has exhibited widely and received prestigious honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, two Pollock-Krasner Foundation grants, a Rome Prize, and multiple awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, along with MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, and Sharpe-Walentas residencies.
