I founded Wildwood Press in 1996, and I serve as both publisher and master printer. Dedicated to experimentation and the unexpected, the prints from Wildwood Press strive to redefine what a print can be. Each year, I invite a small number of artists to work with me in St. Louis.
Wildwood Press is known for both its custom papermaking and as a destination for artists who may choose to meet the challenge of an etching press that is capable of printing five-foot by 10-foot images.
The role of the Contemporary artist is to show us something that we don’t know, or to show us something that we do know in a way that we’ve never seen. The role of the printer/publisher of Contemporary prints is to facilitate the possible. When the collaborative process is working at its best, both the artist and the printer teach each other something new with every project—a principle embraced at Wildwood Press.
