1971: Born in Ravenna, Italy
1986: Joined the F45 studio in Ravenna, working alongside Daniele Casadio
1989: Became a full-time photojournalist
1990: Joined the Grazia Neri agency, producing photographic narrations about religions in Italy and on the Balkan wars
1991: Graduated from the Art Institute in Ravenna
1995: Went to South America for several months, photographing a variety of subjects for his ongoing personal project, 'Requiem in Samba'
1998: Started the project 'Hotel Marinum' in 1998, on life in harbour cities around the world, the final goal of which was to perform a theatrical multimedia show
2001: Member of Magnum Photos
2001: Covered the fall of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, and two years later the invasion of Iraq
2002: Pesaresi Prize, Festival Foto
2003: Infinity Award for Photojournalism, the International Center of Photography
