Angela Dufresne (American, born )

Angela Dusfresne (American, b.1969) is a Contemporary painter whose work is often derived from a combination of film stills and personal memory. Using a juxtaposition of humor and surreal narrative, Dusfresne will paint herself or friends into mythological landscapes or into famous film roles. Born in Hartford, CT, Dufresne grew up around Kansas City. She would receive her BFA in 1991 from the Kansas City Art Institute, and then her MFA from the Tyler School of Art in 1998. Her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at CRG Gallery in New York, Hammer Projects: Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, Galleria Glance in Turin, and KH Modern Art in Berlin, among many others. She lives and works in Brooklyn.
