April Hammock is a contemporary American painter. Her abstract paintings are characterized by expressionistic brushstrokes and multihued depictions of the flora filled terrains that she is familiar with from living in Southern Louisiana. She works from her memories as well, often delineating a corporal like slant to these environments, subtly hinting at psychological perspectives and social currents to many of her works. Born in 1974, she received an MFA from Louisiana State University in 2001 in Painting and Drawing. Notable exhibitions include “Vor Kunst” at Van Der Plas Gallery, NY, “Electric Edens,” at Baton Rouge Gallery, LA and “About Women” at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, Norwalk, CT. April works out of her private studio located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
