Bernardí Roig
(Spanish, born 1965)
Biography
Bernardí Roig is a contemporary Spanish artist whose multi-media work explores the human condition. Roig’s installations consist of resin sculptures of human figures set amidst neon lights, presenting meditations on anxiety and loneliness. “Today we are living in an atmosphere saturated with images, but the experience that they produce has a low intensity,” the artist has said. “Now it is ever more difficult to give meaning to an image.” Born in 1965 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, he currently divides his time between Madrid and Binissalem, Spain. Today, Roig’s works are held in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Verona, Italy, Foundation Ludwig in Havana, and the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, among others.
