Byron Gálvez was born in 1941 in Mixquiahuala, Hidalgo, Mexico, and very young he manifested his artistic restlessness. His father that was merchant and peasant, was an enthusiast of the literature and, also, he played the violin in a jazz band. This way, the painter grew in an atmosphere bounded of expressions of culture in a natural way.
At age of 16 years he decided to move to Mexico city, having a central objective: to study art in San Carlos' academy. There, between 1958 and 1962 he maked his superior studies and he had as teachers, such as Antonio Rodríguez Luna, Francisco Moreno Capdevila, Luis Nishizawa, Santos Balmori and Antonio Ramírez. He was forge, as we can see, with a generation of teachers of first level and this motivated him to follow his vocation like plastic artist in a constant and tenacious way. Between 1962 and 1964 he graduated with a degree and specializing in painting. Likewise, he was member founder of the sculpture shop in metal of the National School of Plastic arts of the Autonomous National University of Mexico.
In 1964 it mounted their first individual exhibition and since then he had carried out more than 60 in the main forums of Mexico and in different cities of United States, Europe and Latin America. He has also showed his work in countless collective exhibitions. A singular fact inside his trajectory like plastic artist happened when, being very young, the famous American actor Vincent Price acquired all the works that conformed his first individual exhibition. Byron finished 45 paintings for the opening in only one week, showing his impressive work capacity. Astonished of the production of Byron Gálvez, Price qualified him as "a Picasso" Mexican.
Since then, he has obtained more than 15 prizes and honorary mentions as recognitions to his coarse and diverse production. Along his intense career as plastic artist, special programs have been filmed for the radio, television.
For Byron's plastic formation, it has been fundamental the fact of traveling in multiple occasions to Europe, visiting the most important museums in the world, activity that he considers a formative experience, decisive in the growth of an artist
His plastic production that includes the sculpture, engraving, drawing and painting, are important part of private collections in Mexico and the foreigner countries. About his work they have written, among other, Jorge Frizzy Juan Of The Serna, Alejandro Aura, Berta Taracena, Santos Balmori, Pablo Fernández Márquez, Enrique F. Gual and Margarita Nelken.
From the 2001 he executed the creation of a conceptual project and executive of the Cultural park David Ben Gurión. This mega urban project has had social and artistic repercussions invaluables for the State of Hidalgo, located in the metropolitan area of Pachuca. We find buildings such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Hidalgo-MACOH, the Theater-auditory Gota de Platar, a center of conventions, a great Library, a sculptural garden, circuits for jogging, an outdoor audiorama inspired by prehispanic foundations of architecture and a 5 star hotel . It is necessary to stand out the geographical marrow of the park: The esplanade of 32,000 mts2, titled "Homage to the Woman of the World", designed by Byron Gálvez like a gigantic Pictorial-Pottery, carried out in mosaic, only in its type.
