1871: Born in West Carlisle, Ohio.
1893: Married Jane Felix, who also became his business manager.
1896: Won a gold medal from the Ohio Photographer's Association.

Co-founded Alfred Stieglitz's group, Photo-Secession.
1898: Founded the Newark Camera Club.
1906: Quit his job as an accounted to practice photography full time.

Moved to New York City.
1907: Was hired by Arthur Wesley Dow to teach at Columbia University.
1914: Founded the Clarence H. White School of Modern Photography.
1916: Co-founded the group Pictorial Photographers of America, with Gertrude Kasebier.
1925: Died July 7.
