Born in West Carlisle, Ohio.
1893
Married Jane Felix, who also became his business manager.
1896
Won a gold medal from the Ohio Photographer's Association.
Co-founded Alfred Stieglitz's group, Photo-Secession.
1898
Founded the Newark Camera Club.
1906
Quit his job as an accounted to practice photography full time.
Moved to New York City.
1907
Was hired by Arthur Wesley Dow to teach at Columbia University.
1914
Founded the Clarence H. White School of Modern Photography.
1916
Co-founded the group Pictorial Photographers of America, with Gertrude Kasebier.
