Cynthia Y Cooper believes her geometric paintings are autobiographical reactions to everything. Her paintings burst outward with exuberant color. Upward-curving stripes are her vocabulary for movement, which she hopes is “moving in the right direction".
In 2021, her work was awarded Best in Show in the 104th Annual Bendheim Gallery Exhibition, Greenwich, CT by juror Allison Rudnick of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her exhibition history includes 2nd Place in the Nor'easter Exhibition at New Britain Museum of American Art, which also holds a large Cooper painting in its permanent collection. American, b. 1954.
