1911: Born in Warsaw, Poland
1931: Leipzig Akademie der Graphischen und Buch Kuenste
1931–1933: Chemistry and Physics, Sorbonne, Paris
1936–1938: Chim photographed the Spanish Civil War
1942–1945: Served in the US Army, winning a medal for his work in intelligence
1947: Founded Magnum Photos along with Cartier-Bresson, Capa, George Rodger, and William Vandivert
1956: 10 November he was killed by Egyptian machine-gun fire while traveling near the Suez Canal to cover a prisoner exchange
