Hanneke Beaumont (Dutch, b.1947) is a Dutch-born sculptor, famous for her works in terracotta, bronze, and cast-iron. After studying dentistry in the United States, she moved back to Europe, and started her artistic studies in 1977 at the Académie de Braine l’Alleud and at La Cambre, both in Brussels, Belgium. She received her first solo exhibition in 1983 at the Pierre Vanderborght Gallery.
An important turning point in her career occurred in 1994, when she received an award for her sculpture group Le Courage at the Centre International d’Art Contemporain Château Beychevelle. Shortly afterward, she participated in the second Exposiciòn Internacional de Esculturas en la Calle, organized by the Colegio de Arquitectos de Canarias in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain, where her work was permanently installed. She now enjoys international renown, with exhibitions in the United States, Canada, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Her works can be found in the permanent collections of the Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, Grand Rapids, MI; Vero Beach Museum, Vero Beach, FL; and are on view in the City of Bad Homburg, Germany.
Beaumont currently lives and works in Brussels.
