Began to study painting with Alfred Herzog

Study trip to China with John Heartfield and Werner Stötzer

Meisterschüler at the Deutsche Akademie der Künste zu Berlin, under Otto Nagel
Close cooperation with Manfred Böttcher, Ernst Schroeder and Werner Stötzer, who are also Meisterschüler. This group of artists is later described as the “Berlin School”. Harald Metzkes becomes the group’s most important member.
