Heinz Butz was born on December 2nd in Dillingen an der Donau.

1944

He was at he Eastern front in Russia in the early summer

1945–1946

Prisoner of war from the summer of 1945 until December 1946

1947

He became a member of the Nature Studies Society in Augsburg (until 1950)

1948–1950

Studied at the Kunstschule der Stadt Augsburg with Georg Meyer, Eugen Nerdinger and Hermann Rothballe

1954

He became a teacher, first at the Kunstschule and then at the Werkkunstschule der Stadt Augsburg

1950–1956

Following that he studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich with Franz Nagel and Walther Teutsch

1959

Heinz Butz married Annsi Müller, a painter and teacher for Construction History

1967–1991

He taught at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich

He has been a member of the Bayerische Akademie der Schönen Künste since then
