1935 - 1970: Student and later lecturer at the Hanoi Academy of Fine Arts (formerly the “Ecole des Beaux Arts de l’Indochine") and Head of Hanoi Institute of Handicraft Arts.
Awarded prizes at international exhibitions in Germany, Poland and India. In addition, Chu was honored in Vietnam with the First Prize by The Central Committee of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts (1958); the Hồ Chí Minh Prize in recognition of cultural and/or scientific achievement (2000); and by the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations in recognition of his achievements in education and culture (posthumous, 2012).
Chu's paintings have been exhibited in the National Museum of Fine Arts in Vietnam and in the Moscow Museum of Oriental Arts in Russia. His works are in private collections in Vietnam and abroad.
