(British, born 1927)

Jack Rigg is a British maritime painter known for his realistic nautical scenes depicting a variety of ships and weather conditions. His works are notably created from a preliminary sketch or painting created from direct observation, as opposed to a photograph. Born in 1927 in Farsley, England, Rigg later served in the Royal Navy where he quickly developed a love of the sea and traveling abroad ships. From there, he used his experience as inspiration for his work, bringing an authentic level of detail to his many paintings.
