Jean Baptiste Valadie is a French painter best known for his dreamlike depictions of sensual nudes and beach views. He incorporates veils of thin color and sinewy lines to produce a mystical quality in each work. Born on December 29, 1933 in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France, he went on to study at the National School of Applied Arts in Paris. Valadie has said of his work, “I feel happy when I paint. I want all men to feel happy when looking at my paintings, let them have as much pleasure looking at them as I have creating them.” The artist lives and works in France.
