Jeppe Hein (Danish, b.1974) is a Danish installation artist who is well-known for producing experimental and interactive works that combine different elements of architecture, art, and even technical inventions. Hein was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and he enrolled at the Royal Danish Academy of Art from 1997 to 2003. The artist also joined the Städelschule, in Frankfurt, from 1999 to 2000. He was registered as an associate student of the Danish Academy during his time in Frankfurt. While he was still a student, Hein cofounded a non-commercial organization involved in the organization of art exhibitions in Denmark.

Most of Hein's early works involved the construction of mazes using different media and nonstatic sculptures. Examples of these his early works include Smoking Bench (2003) and Independent Pedestal (2002). Hein tends to produce works with different forms of motion, including fountains and light sculptures, in addition to other forms of motion. Hein's series of Modified Social Benches are interactive benches with different configurations. Some of these benches have been permanently installed in places such as the Montenmedio Sculpture Park, in Cadiz, Spain, and in Helsinki, Finland. Hein collaborated with Dan Graham (American, b.1942) in 2008 to install a temporary pavilion in Cologne, Germany. The Alexander Calder's studio in Saché, France, has an artist in residence program, and Hein stayed there between 2009 and 2010. Together with his sister Lærke Hein, Hein cofounded a bar and restaurant in Copenhagen, Denmark, known as Karriere Bar. This bar holds site-specific artworks by international artists.

Hein has held numerous solo exhibitions in different places, including Stockholm Art Fair, Stockholm, Sweden (2001), CAPC Musee d`art Contemporain, Bordeaux, France (2002), and Bass Museum of Art, Miami, FL (2011). He has also taken part in many group exhibitions such as those held at Summer, OTTO, Copenhagen, Denmark (1998), Gesellschaft für aktuelle Kunst, Bremen, Germany (2005), and Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, Perth, Australia (2010). Like other prominent artists, Hein's works are found in different public collections such as Arken Kustmuseum, in Arken, Denmark, Museum für Moderne Kunst, in Frankfurt, Germany, and Museum of Contemporary Art, in Los Angeles, CA. Hein is represented by Johann König, in Berlin, Germany, SCAI The Bathhouse in Tokyo, Japan, 303 Gallery in New York, NY, and Galleri Nicolai Wallner in Copenhagen, Denmark. Hein now lives and works in Copenhagen.
