John Torreano is an American artist from Michigan. He received his associates degree in 1961 from Flint Community Junior College, Flint, Michigan, his BFA in 1963 from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and his MFA, Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio in 1967. Torreano has shown in the Indianapolis Museum of Art, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art and the New Museum.

Torreano is known for utilizing faceted gems in a variety of mediums in order to create "movement oriented perception" in his works. Artist Richard Artschwager described Torreano's works as "paintings that stand still and make you move."
