Jonas Wood (American, b.1977) is a Contemporary artist whose style fuses a range of influences and media, from collages, drawing, and photography to Pop Art and Cubism. Born in Boston, Wood received a BA in psychology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and an MFA from the University of Washington.
Working almost entirely from studies, sketches, and mock-ups, Wood paints portraits, interiors, and still lifes, using distorted shapes and bright colors in compositions that embrace both figuration and abstraction. His works often feature geometric shapes painted against monochrome backgrounds, and display the influence of artists such as Henri Matisse, Alex Katz, and David Hockney.
The artist has held solo exhibitions in galleries throughout the country, as well as group exhibitions around the world, in countries such as Switzerland, Germany, England, and Japan.
He lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
