Juan Dolhare (Argentine)

In 2005, Juan Dolhare (Argentine) became the first-ever graduate of the Universidad Nacional de las Artes (UNA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, formerly known as the highly recognized Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, receiving a bachelor’s degree in visual arts. He began more broadly exhibiting his work in 2007, and has since had dozens of collective and solo shows in Argentina, the United States, and Spain.

In 2014, Dolhare was selected to participate in one of the most important art programs in Buenos Aires, called Practicas Artisticas Contemporaneas, of Gachi Prieto Gallery. He was also invited by the Centro Cultural Recoleta to have a solo show in March 2015, and won third place in a nationally recognized, juried art show conducted by the Banco Central de la República Argentina.

Dolhare is also committed to education, having served as a faculty member of UNA since 2006, and participating in an October 2015 residency at the Vermont Studio Center. His works can be found in private collections in Argentina, Spain, Nigeria, Scotland, Japan, and the United States. These works represent strong examples of Dolhare’s work in the Pop-Surrealism realm, and present social, political, and religious symbols of Latin American culture.
