Marc Handelman (American, b.1975) is a Contemporary painter, known for his large-scale abstractions derived from Lockheed Martin advertising, historical propaganda, and contemporary news broadcasts, among other sources. Born in Santa Clara, CA, Handelman would go on to receive his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1998, and his MFA from Columbia University in 2003. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Sikkema Jenkins in New York, Marc Selwyn Fine Art in Los Angeles, and Reception in Berlin, among others. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the 2011 Printed Matter award, the 2004 Herman EveGellman Award, and the Brevoort Eickemeyer Grant. His work can be found in the public collections of the Goethe-Institute in New York, the Orlando Museum of Art, and the Los Angeles Museum of Art, among others.
