Nash Hyon (American, born )

Timeline

Nash Hyon is a contemporary American painter who paints with a variety of media including encaustic paint, one of the most historic painting mediums made with beeswax. This variety fuels her experimentation with colors, surfaces and textures. Her interest in current scientific research is a primary inspiration for her work including the series of paintings titled The Elements and The Genome Project. More recent work reflects concern over climate change, the health of our oceans and water. Without water there is no life as we know it. Nash studied in Florence, Italy and received her M.F.A. in 1998. She has exhibited widely including Montclair Art Museum, GE World Headquarters, the Knoxville Museum of Art and the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C. Selected collections include Citizen's Communications, the William Benton Museum of Art and Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Research. Publications include The Lancet and Waxing Poetic: Encaustic Art in America. Hyon lives and works from her studio in Connecticut.
