Paul Geissler

Biography
Paul Geissler was an German artist, best known for his large etchings of landscapes, figures, and the street scenes of cultural centers like Paris, Washington D.C., and Berlin. Born on June 25, 1881 in Erfurt, Germany, he originally studied painting and printmaking in 1903 at the Grand-Ducal School of Arts in Weimer before going on to dedicate his work to the practice of etching. Following a prolific period of travel to the United States and Italy in 1928, Geissler continued to produce work through World War II and was appointed a professor in Germany in 1943. The artist died on May 30, 1965.
