Phan Cam Thuong

Phan Cam Thuong is a contemporary Vietnamese painter known for his serene depictions of figures and landscapes. Combining natural paint pigments and traditional Chinese calligraphy techniques, Thuong’s works evince his interest in the history of Buddhist scholars. Born in 1957 in Hanoi, Vietnam, he learned calligraphy as a youth and went on to serve in the Vietnam War before receiving a degree from the Hanoi College of Fine Arts in 1984. Thuong lives and works in Hanoi, Vietnam where he is renowned as an art historian and critic.
