Timeline
Sarah Balcombe is a British American painter, born in London in 1969. Her abstract landscapes examine memory while prompting inquiry about climate change and the future of the environment. Changing shorelines and more extreme seasons are depicted in palettes of various hues, using oil, acrylic and charcoal. By adding and subtracting layers of paint and material Sarah depicts accretion and erosion, documenting the fragile, tangible power of nature, in the process.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and her Master of Arts from Cambridge University, followed by her Masters in Architecture from the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. Sarah is the recipient of Silvermine Galleries' Award of Merit for her painting “Crossroads”. Her art has been exhibited at numerous galleries in New York and Connecticut.
