Tom Christopher

(American, born 1952)

Tom Christopher is an American artist best known for his expressive paintings of the streets of New York. The artist’s work uses vibrant colors and dynamic compositions to evoke the bustling movement of the city. Born in 1952 in Los Angeles, CA, Christopher studied under the legendary Disney animator Ward Kimball and the artist Lorser Feitelson at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He found success through commercial illustration, working for Disney in Anaheim, before moving to New York in 1981. In New York, he illustrated for several high-profile publications including the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Working as a courtroom artist for CBS news, he famously covered the trial of John Lennon’s murderer Mark David Chapman. The artist’s work has been shown at the Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens, NY, and the Museum of the City of New York. Christopher continues to live and work in New York, NY.
