Trenton Doyle Hancock (American, b.1974) is a Contemporary artist. He earned his BFA from Texas A&M University in 1997 and his MFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in 2000. He is best known for his fantastical depictions of The Mounds, mythical creatures whose narrative unfolds through Hancock’s paintings, prints, and drawings. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant in 1999, the Artadia Foundation Award in 2003, and the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Biennial Award in 2005. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, TX, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Fort Worth, TX, and Museum of Contemporary Art, Miami, FL. The artist currently lives and works in Houston, TX.
