William Lopa (American, XX-XXI)

William Lopa (American) is a sports artist known for his use of "Kinetic Impressionism," incorporating spatter techniques into his work to capture athletes in motion. Raised in New Jersey, Lopa took up drawing at a young age, and went on to earn a BFA from William Paterson College in Wayne, NJ. Working in acrylics, Lopa applies paint with a pallet knife, and is particularly well known for his use of bright, bold colors.

Lopa’s artwork has been featured in art galleries across the country, such as the Markman Galleries in Las Vegas, Gallery Four at the Garden State Art Plaza, Field of Dreams throughout the country, Artexpo in New York, Just Ducky in Chicago, and in several hall of fame memorabilia franchise stores. He has also been invited to paint live at World Series games and All-Star games, and created commemorative artwork for several NFL Superbowls.

Over his professional career, Lopa’s paintings have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities across the country, including the American Cancer Society, Barbara Sinatra Children’s Hospital, Klein Family Learning Center, Jockey’s Guild, James Brown Cancer Center, the Leukemia Foundation, the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research, and the Gail’s Angels Foundation.
