Timeline

William Bigg was a pupil of Edward Penny and the Royal Academy Schools. He exhibited numerous time at the Academy throughout his career, as well as at the Free Society and the British Institution.

Bigg often painted small-scale, full-length portraits with great charm, such as in this lovely painting. The British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London have several of his works in their collections.
