Yang Qian

Biography
Yang Qian is a contemporary Chinese artist known for his paintings which deal with art history and photography. Yang’s interest in the representation of painting through photography is evinced in his Bathroom series, in where the artist depicts nude women sitting in steam rooms with disorienting projections of Western European paintings upon them. Born in 1959 in Chengdu, China, Yang attended the Sichuan Fine Art Institute from 1982 to 1984, before obtaining an MFA from the University of Florida in 1988. He has held multiple teaching positions, and his work has been exhibited at both the National Museum of China in Beijing and the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul. Yang currently lives and works in Beijing, China
