The New York Academy of Art is pleased to announce its participation in Miami Art Week with two exhibitions of works by graduates of its MFA program. The Academy’s presence at Miami Art Week is generously sponsored by Cadogan Tate. 

At the Art Miami art fair from December 3 - 8, the Academy will present sculpture, drawings and paintings created by 25 alumni of the MFA program, curated by Helena Christensen and Trustee Brooke Shields. Both are devoted supporters of the Academy: Christensen previously curated an exhibition of alumni artwork at the Art New York art fair in May and Shields curated the Academy’s 2018 Art Miami exhibition. The co-curators will co-host a reception and tour of the exhibition at the fair on Thursday, December 5, from 5 – 6:30 pm, open to all fair ticketholders. 

At the Mandarin Oriental, Miami from December 2 – 6, the Academy will mount a second exhibition of alumni works curated by Christensen and Shields, entitled “Bliss.” The exhibition presents fifteen artists that explore the concept of bliss and its connotations physically, emotionally and spiritually. The paintings and drawings in the show portray images such as two people lazily entwined on a pool float, a breathtaking vista of nature, and the aptly named “Cake Heaven,” with dozens of mouthwatering pastel confections. The co-curators will host a public reception on Friday, December 6 from 7 – 9 pm at the hotel. 

In addition, the Academy’s corporate partner Chubb will present an exhibition of works from six Academy Chubb Fellows at the Chubb Lounge at Art Basel Miami fair.
